Legal obligations

  • His/her contact information and the contact information of his/her client;
  • the subject-matter of his/her lobbying activities (the decision he/she is attempting to influence for his/her client;
  • the time period covered by his/her lobbying activities;
  • the name of the parliamentary, government or municipal institution with which he/she intervenes;
  • the order of magnitude of the consideration received (fees or material benefits) in exchange for his/her lobbying activities;
  • the means of communication used or that he/she intends to use.
  • His/her name and the name and contact information of the enterprise or organization;
  • the name of each lobbyist who engages in lobbying activities on behalf of the enterprise or organization;
  • the start and end date of the fiscal year of the enterprise or organization;
  • a summary of the activities or the enterprise or organization;
  • the subject-matter of the lobbying activities in which the lobbyist engages on behalf of the enterprise or organization (the decision the lobbyist is attempting to influence);
  • the time period covered by the lobbying activities;
  • the name of the parliamentary, government or municipal institution with which he/she intervenes;
  • the means of communication used.

* The senior officer of the enterprise or organization is responsible for registering enterprise lobbyists or organization lobbyists in the registry of lobbyists.

    • A former public office holder must abstain from engaging in lobbying activities for a period of time ranging from one to two years, depending on the functions that person occupied previously;
    • the consultant lobbyist and the enterprise lobbyist may not obtain variable compensation contingent on the success or the result desired by their client or enterprise;
    • the consultant lobbyist and the enterprise lobbyist may not receive compensation derived from a grant or loan from a government, a municipality or one of their agencies;
    • a former public office holder may not benefit from information obtained the course of his/her previous function or derive an undue advantage when engaging in lobbying activities.
